Kari (in a nut shell)

Just another blog attempt.

As I was just about to blog this morning, I decided to check my site stats. I started doing this for a little project I was doing for class last semester. Now it is just a habit. I realize I use to have more views. I decided that this must change. I will be sure to blog more, and hopefully about things that are of interest to everyone. I seem to blog about what I do and things that have happened to me recently. This may not interest everyone, but since I do have a life that is nonstop, I feel most people are relate. So, I am going to start posting on my Twitter how many views I have on my blog. Hopefully this will attract more people. ALSO, I only have 3 blog subscribers. If you are not subscribed to my blog but read it, you should subscribe 🙂 Right now, I have 4 posts (since it is only 11 am, that’s not too shabby). I have 1,675 views total for my blog. My busiest day has never reached over 100, but we can all have goals! Blog on.

Never too old for a bike.

As summer is quickly approaching, Alex and I pulled out the bikes! Having a bike trail right across from the house makes it extremely easy for us to just go on a quick bike ride. We stopped a took a picture on the bridge on the path during our first ride. Although I have had my bike since I was a teenager, I feel I could never grow out of riding a bike. It is relaxing and something that you can do with just about anyone. I went on a ride alone yesterday too. It is a great way to take a break. I encourage everyone to get back on a bike if they haven’t in years, it is well worth it.

Schedules.

I have always been a fan of organization and planning. I think this is what I need in my life at the moment. I am juggling two part time jobs, school, my social life and family. It becomes stressful. I feel like my weeks are constantly filled with things to do. My goal is set a schedule for myself. And by announcing it to my blog audience (thinking I actually have one!), I feel I will be more accountable.

So here it goes…

On Monday one of my classes assignments are posted. I am not allowed to finish the second part of the assignment each week until Friday though.

On Thursday my other class posts the assignments for the week. Again, I should wait to complete the second part of the assignment.

I am able to work whenever I have time for one of my jobs.

And my other job I usually work Tuesday, Friday & Saturday.

My plan is this:

Monday: Issue & Crisis Management homework, GPSG work

Tuesday: Downs work

Wednesday: PR Theory homework, GPSG work

Thursday: Issue & Crisis Management comments

Friday: PR Theory comments, Downs work

Saturday: Downs work

Sunday: rest, rest & more rest (which really includes spending time with the family, grocery shopping and having a normal social life)

I skipped a rock once.

I have been so busy with school, working two jobs, family, friends and having my cousins come visit, I have not been dedicating time to my blog. Yesterday though, I had an urge to blog. Alex and I went on a small trip that turned into a rather small adventure. My dad had went on an overnight canoeing trip with his friend and needed us to pick him up in Atterbury. Alex and I got there and began adventuring. We drove past Camp Atterbury and where he had gone to the shooting range before. We even drove down the river to try and spot my dad before he got to the take out point. We talked to other canoers/kayakers. He even taught me how to skip a rock, hence the name of the blog post. It wasn’t until over an hour passed that we talked to three kayakers that had seen my dad and that they had passed them on the river. We knew then that they must have passed the take out point. My dad’s phone of course starts to mess up at the most inconvenient time and it takes numerous attempts to get a hold of him. Alex and I then had to adventure to what was the next place they could take out. The place was called Blue’s Canoes and even though they were closed, thankfully the gate was left open and we were able to get the truck near where they could get out. Although this story seems short and probably not too difficult to do, it took many people to actually find the destination and this was about a 5 hour trip for us instead of the expected 2. Nonetheless, I learned to skip a rock!

Pictures, pictures and more pictures.

Instead of posting all of the pictures I have on my blog, everyone visit my Facebook page (and you may have to friend me). Although I bought a new camera last summer, I still catch myself forgetting to take pictures. And I will admit, the ones I take seem to be a little random at times. But I still find my pictures to be worthy of looking at (I am a little bias) because I take pictures of all different things. The majority will be of my boyfriend, cat and nephew, but a lot are of nature, food and things that everyone can enjoy. Please leave comments to let me know which ones you all like 🙂

A productive slacker.

Because I have been going non-stop since Wednesday, I feel like I have been extremely productive. I got to see many of friends that are graduating and moved Alex (and allllll of his stuff) out. I worked, visited with my sister, and attended a bachelorette party. Not to mention the driving that comes with all of us. I am officially beat.

I thought about blogging many times. Most of the time I was in the car. Or we were in the middle of the move and I didn’t have access to a computer. But through all of this, I realize my creativity was budgeting my time well. I sometimes have to stop myself from trying to do everything. I need to stand back and realize that I cannot do everything that I want to all of the time. For example, while moving Alex, I kept thinking about how I wanted to just go outside and relax and read my book. I realized that the move needed to get done though. Then there was a birthday party for the cutest little one year old out there. I just realized I couldn’t do everything. At the same time though, I realize how lucky I am to be able to do the things I am able to do. To spend time with friends and family is priceless. Even to be able to sit and enjoy a good book is becoming a hobby of mine. I am thankful for these things, and hobbies like blogging as well 🙂

Planting

My day was spent outdoors and I enjoyed every minute of soaking up the sun. Alex cleaned his car, I read a few more chapters in my book, we planted flowers, and did a few more odds and ins. Just being able to spend an entire day outdoors with my mom and Alex made my day. I had to run inside to grab my camera to get a picture of them planting together. It was too precious not to capture the moment.

Multiples.

As there is no single act that made me extremely creative today, I am going to give you a mixture of what my day consisted of, and this will be multiple things!

1. I am continuing to read Catching Fire because I am obsessed. I cannot put it down and when I am forced to, I am constantly thinking about it.

2. I finished my mom’s Mother’s Day card today, that I made myself!

3. I helped Alex change his oil. Although I mostly just sat there and read, I like to think I helped a little.

4. I woke my mom up with an Iced Mocha today, she was so happy.

5. After taking my mom to lunch, I went with Alex to celebrate Mother’s Day with his family. I drew some not so pretty flowers for his niece and enjoyed my time.

And I am finishing my blog now so I can go back to reading. I know it sounds awful. But I have never wanted to finish reading something so badly! If everyone book was this intriguing, I would have a serious problem.

Procrastination.

Yes, I know I have been awful at blogging. I went two days without blogging. Did I think about it? Yes. I knew I was forgetting, bu I would remember when I was in the car or at work. And I do not have a smart phone. So, here I am. I am going to explain my last few days so everyone can relate to how hectic it can get.

Wednesday. I finished proofing my paper. I went to work for a few hours. And then had to turn in my paper. After that I went and stayed at Kylie’s. I started Catching Fire, the second book in the Hunger Games series! I also fell asleep, haha.

Thursday. That morning Kylie and I drove to Shelbyville early for her to go to doctor and dentist appointments. We also celebrated Mother’s Day early with our mom and Landon. Then I went back to Indy to get my car and drove to Purdue.

Friday. I helped Alex clean and get some things together so he can move next week. We then drove down to Shelbyville to work.

Today. I woke up at 8 to go work at the track for good ol Derby Day. Thankfully, I got off at 5:30 and the day wasn’t bad at all. Busy, but good. Here I am though, and I will try my best to not skip any more days 🙂

Weddings galore.

The past few weekends I have shopped for shower, bachelorette and wedding gifts. I have attended two showers and am helping plan a third. All of this wedding talk has me excited to be in one of the weddings this summer. Not to give anything away to the bride, but the bridesmaids were just talking today and we are very excited to be able throw such a special event. We are trying to be creative and make this shower fantastic!

From invitations to games, we are all trying to have input so it is not just the ordinary shower, but has some special, unique touches to it.

I have a bachelorette party coming up soon too and I am excited to be able to spend so much time with all of these girls celebrating such a special time in their lives.

All of this wedding talk makes me want to become a wedding planner. I love all the details and unlike some girls, do not find it stressful or challenging, but a way to express each bride’s thoughts and wants.
